About the Role

Promising direct partner mentoring, ongoing professional development and access to a diverse client base, this is a unique opportunity for a Litigation Lawyer with 3-5 years PAE experience to enjoy a fulfilling and interesting legal career as well as a balanced lifestyle. The successful applicant will support Lesly Cho, Partner (Litigation & Dispute Resolution) and will have direct access to clients across a broad range of industries and organisations.

Preferred Candidate will ideally have experience in:

  • General Commercial Litigation
  • Building and construction law and litigation
  • Property related dispute resolution
  • Personal and corporate insolvency
  • Debt recovery
  • Drafting pleadings and other Court material and having conduct of files
  • Advocacy in NCAT, Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court and Federal Court
  • Mediations, trials and settlement conferences

Duties and Responsibilities

Client Related Responsibilities

  • Advise on legal matters to clients
  • Instruct in Court proceedings
  • Initiate and follow-up on all areas of legal documentation
  • Establish and maintain strong professional working relationships with clients
  • Exhibit and apply an unsupervised ability of understanding and operating within and responding to complex legal procedures and areas of change in law, rules and regulations

General Administration

  • Participate in relevant client business development activities
  • Achieve billable hour requirements
  • Participate in specialist committees. May be operationally based such as precedents or commercially based firm initiatives.
  • Undertake CLE and any other relevant training
  • Capable of demonstrating achievement of appropriate KPI’s, specifically:
    • Time recording
    • Fees billed and collected
    • Client maintenance
    • Provision of specific training

Qualifications and Skill Base

  • LLB or equivalent
  • Admission as a solicitor in the relevant jurisdiction
  • 3 to 5 years post admission commercial litigation experience
  • Must have knowledge of insolvency and Corporations Act as it relates to insolvency (but we do not want a dedicated insolvency practitioner)
