Peter leads our Intellectual Property, and Media & Technology practice groups, and is a member of our Business Transactions group.
Peter advises on the acquisition and disposal of businesses, commercial contracts, intellectual property protection, private investment and fundraising, shareholder and partnership agreements, corporate restructures, joint ventures, government tenders, and IP disputes.
In particular, Peter adds value to his clients' businesses by assisting them to identify, protect and exploit their valuable intellectual property assets. Managing international trade mark portfolios, structuring and negotiating intellectual property licences, protecting confidential information, and advising on complex copyright and patent disputes are all within his field of expertise.
His industry experience includes media, advertising & marketing, and technology & software. Peter acts as the legal adviser to industry body Publishers Australia, as well as many of its publisher members. He regularly advises clients on major IT services contracts and software agreements. Peter understands the legal issues faced by businesses in these industries, including the increasing challenges posed by social media and privacy laws. He publishes articles, conducts seminars and presents at conferences in these areas for clients and industry groups.
Peter is familiar with trade mark infringement claims, misleading and deceptive conduct actions, passing off disputes, defamation, and breach of contract claims. He is a skilled negotiator who helps clients understand where they stand in a dispute, and guides them through the dispute resolution process to achieve an optimal outcome.
