Matthew is a Senior Associate in the Property & Projects team at ClarkeKann. He takes a proactive role in developing client initiatives and is committed to achieving progressive outcomes consistent with his clients’ commercial objectives.

Matthew is a trusted advisor for many of the firm's longstanding clients and over the previous five years he has fostered, maintained and grown strong professional working relationships with senior decision makers. His diligence, timeliness and personable approach means he is the often the first point of contact for new matters for existing clients.

Matthew’s expertise includes property development, property transactions (acquisitions and disposals), commercial leasing, strata and retirement living and aged care.

Aside from his professional work, Matthew is the President of ClarkeKann Young Professionals and a Strata Services Member of Strata Community Australia. He has an avid interest in the broader property industry and market which allows him to provide his clients' with quality legal and commercial advice.

  • Aveo & FKP Group / Twin Ocean Group - The Hudson on Albion Hill, Albion

    Acting in all aspects of the Albion Mill residential and retail mixed use project to facilitate to development of the Heritage listed Albion Floor Mill and adjoining site areas, including high volume off the plan unit conveyancing and over 100 off the plan settlements, project development, project finance, drafted and managed all aspects of the major ground floor commercial sale subject to a ten-year lease, drafted and managed all aspects of the agreement for lease, lease and fit-out provisions, and body corporate and titling matters.
  • Mirvac Group - Gainsborough Greens

    Acting for the Mirvac Group in the development of a master planned layered and staged community titles scheme development at Pimpama on the Gold Coast, including preparing and updating off the plan sales documentation, providing body corporate advice and high volume residential conveyancing.
  • Sugar Research Australia

    Advising Sugar Research Australia on several complex sugar cane acquisitions, sales and redevelopments including negotiations with major sugar cane mill operators, leasing and farming arrangements, GST advice and transfer of water licences.
  • Juxgold Developments - Robina Fairways, Robina

    Acting for the Juxgold Developments Group in the development of a master planned 'villa' community titles scheme development adjacent to the Palmer Golf Course at Robina on the Gold Coast, including preparing and updating bespoke off the plan sales documentation, providing body corporate advice and residential conveyancing.

    Advising in all property development aspects, including flat land subdivisions, due diligence, investigations, town planning advice, and development site acquisitions.
  • Clarendon Display Homes

    Advising in all property related matters, including site acquisition contracts with major developers, reviewing display village agreements and drafting and negotiating display home sale contracts with leasebacks to Clarendon Display Homes.
  • Receivers and managers appointed - City Gates, Mackay

    Acting for Receivers and Managers appointed in the sale of off the plan lots in an industrial estate in Mackay, Queensland involving negotiations with major anchor tenants, listed companies and creditor stakeholders.                 
  • Royal Duke Holdings and other private developers

    Advising all aspects of property development, including site acquisitions and disposals, marketing and launch campaigns, due diligence investigations, high volume conveyancing and body corporate and titling advice.
  • Commercial leasing clients

    Acting for landlords and tenants in relation to commercial and retail lease matters.

Retirement Living & Aged Care

  • Palm Lake Group

    .Advising the Palm Lake Group on its retirement village assets in Queensland and New South Wales, including regulatory compliance, drafting the suite of village contract documentation and implementing and training sales staff in compliance and legal process.
  • United Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of Queensland / Masonic Care Queensland

    Acting for UGLQ and understands the legal procedures and arrangements necessary to appropriately document the sale of heritage listed buildings and to sell under the United Grand Lodge of Antient Free and Accepted Masons of Queensland Trustees Act 1942. Also advises Masonic Care Queensland in its retirement living and master planned developments.
  • Regis Aged Care

    Assisting in the commercial and legal advice the Regis retirement living assets including high volume unit conveyancing.
  • Retirement Village and Aged Care Operators

    Advising retirement village developers and scheme operators on the operation of retirement villages.
