Adam focuses on corporate insolvency, bankruptcy, litigation and dispute resolution and has a broad interest in all areas of commercial law.

Adam was admitted as a lawyer in England and Wales in 2007 and then practised as a solicitor and solicitor advocate in London, specialising in litigation and insolvency. He was admitted as a lawyer in Queensland in 2014 after gaining experience in Brisbane in a variety of fields, including commercial litigation, insolvency and general commercial work.

  • Private client

    Acting for a client in a detinue action brought by the owner of buildings that had been left on its land.  This matter proceeded to trial and the defence , insofar as it related to damages, was successful.  This decision was reported at Black Diamond Group Pty Ltd v Manor of Maluka Pty Ltd [2014] QSC 219.
  • National debtor finance company

    Acting for national debtor finance company client in pursuing by claim a guarantee given by a director for payment of sums due under the debtor finance agreement.
  • Construction company

    Acting for construction company client in a claim based on the future of a subcontractor to fulfil contractual obligations relating to the supply of services to a site.
  • National franchisor company

    Acting for national franchisor company client in enforcing by injunction the restraint of trade provisions again an ex franchisee.
  • National bank

    Acting as for a national bank as the mortgagee:
    • of a property in defending a claim brought by an individual in possession of the property asserting a right to remain on the property.
    • in possession in removing a caveat registered on the property by the owner of the property.
  • International pallet design company   

    Acting for an international pallet deign company client seeking to protect its intellectual property rights in Australia relating to its various products.

    Acting for a partner in a partnership dispute relating to a claim for an account in the partnership and/or proceeds of sale following the sale of the partnership assets from the other partners.

    Acting for an international pharmaceutical company in a claim again a UK based multinational pharmaceutical company concerning a breach of the supply where there was concerns over the end use of the goods supplied in the supply to unregulated markets.

    Acting for national electronics company in:
    • defence of an unfair preference claim brought by a liquidator;
    • preparing and dealing with all aspects of creditor's bankruptcy petitions and applications relating to those petitions; and
    • numerous matters recovering debts pursuant to credit agreements entered into with its customers including dealing with enforcement of judgments under the UCPR or by way of bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings.
  • National debtor finance company

    Acting for a national debtor finance company in preparing and dealing with all aspects of winding up applications, including the statutory demand process and applications relating to that process.
  • Various liquidators (England)

    Acting on behalf of liquidators in England in:
    • pursuing directors and shadow directors of companies for misfeasance and wrongful trading claims and pursuing directors or third parties for the recovery of assets; and
    • requiring bankrupts or directors to submit to Court for questioning.

    Acting on behalf of trustees in bankruptcy in England in:
    • actions against related parties of the bankrupt;
    • requiring bankrupts and directors to submit to Court for questioning.

    Acting for blue chip utilities supplier company in England in:
    • obtaining provisional liquidation orders against two connected companies involved in fraud; additionally acting on behalf of the same company in disputed winding up and bankruptcy petitions; and
    • a number of high value debt recovery cases.

    Acting for the Official Receiver on claims for preferences and transactions at an undervalue.
  • Tenancy deposit scheme client (England)

    Acting for a government backed tenancy deposit scheme client in recovery debts due for moneys paid out pursuant to the scheme.

    Acting for debtor purchase company in recovering debts that it had purchased.

    Acting for local governments in England in recovery debts sue for non payment of commercial rates.
